The good ol' days

September 4, 2009

Regarding the Sept. 1 letter "Families can help": The writer, a retired teacher, made the statement: "Unfortunately, teachers spend too much of their days on discipline." I went from first grade through high school in classrooms with well more than 30 students (no teacher ever had an assistant), and the teachers never had a problem with discipline. Of course, that was before 1960. You figure out why!
