Creeping socialism

September 17, 2009

Today our media choices are vast. Whatever media source we choose to use, knowledge of past, as well as current, events is important because it can predict our future. That fact was validated for me by a political event in history of which I recently read.

Socialist Norman Thomas was a frequent presidential candidate. In a 1944 speech he is quoted as saying, "The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. but under the name of 'liberalism' they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation without knowing how it happened." He went on to say, "I no longer need to run as a presidential candidate for the Socialist Party. The Democratic Party has adopted our platform."

Karl Marx (the father of Communism) believed socialism would be the transitional stage between capitalism and communism.

I encourage all Americans to read, watch, listen and most importantly think. Then they should let their governing entities know what they think. Apathy is a pathetic excuse for not knowing how it happened.

God bless the United States of America.
