'Islamic' extremists

September 22, 2009

I hope to clarify some issues regarding all the media dealings with Islam and Muslims. Islam is the religion that Muslims follow. Islam means "submission" while Muslim means "one who submits." There is a difference between the religion of Islam and the followers who are Muslims.

Many times the word "Islamic" extremist is used when Islam calls against being extreme in matters. Islam calls for the worship of the Creator alone without associating any partners in that worship. Islam also calls for good manners and behavior. It is true that not all Muslims follow Islam properly, but the religion should not be judged by the actions or alleged actions of some its followers.
