The Duke men's cross country team placed seven runners in the top 31 to take first place at the Great American Cross Country Festival on Friday at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary.
Duke totaled 41 points, followed by Maryland (53), Georgia Tech (78), East Carolina (122) and Evansville (164).
Junior Josh Lund led the way for Duke, completing the 8K course in 24:17 for a third-place finish. Duke freshman Mike Moverman was fifth in 24:39.

Pack's Hill wins race: N.C. State sophomore Ryan Hill won the individual title to lead the Wolfpack to a third-place finish in the Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, Pa.
Hill ran the 8K course in 23:40, finishing one second ahead of Iona's Jason Weller.
Indiana was the top team with 88 points, followed by Iona (111) and NCSU (134).

North Carolina 1, Virginia 0 (2 OT): Cameron Brown's 109th-minute header lifted host No. 5 North Carolina (7-1-1, 3-1 ACC) over No. 12 Virginia (6-3, 1-3.).

Winston-Salem State to rejoin CIAA: The CIAA's Board of Directors voted Friday to reinstate Winston-Salem State as a member of the Division II conference.
Winston-Salem State will compete at the NCAA Division II level effective with the 2010-11 season.
