Hispanic pros to assist ESL students

The N.C. Society of Hispanic Professionals will host a conference Friday at Meredith College for professionals who work with Hispanic students.

The Hispanic Achievement Conference will focus on helping students in English as a Second Language classes excel in school.

Yvonne and David Freeman, professors at the University of Texas at Brownsville, will teach strategies and suggest materials to help English language learners.

The conference, which runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., is open to teachers, administrators, social workers, counselors and others who work with ESL students. The cost is $70.
