Discounted State Fair tickets still available

From Staff ReportsOctober 15, 2009

RALEIGH -- There’s still time to buy discounted advance tickets to the State Fair.

Online sales of advance tickets continue through midnight tonight at www.ncstatefair.org/2009.

If you want to buy them in person, and avoid online convenience fees, those tickets are available until 6 p.m. at the following locations: State Fairgrounds Gate 9, the State Farmers Market and Triangle Town Center in Raleigh; Northgate Mall in Durham; University Mall in Chapel Hill; Burlington Square Mall in Burlington and Wilson Mall in Wilson. Advance tickets will be sold at the N.C. Museum of History in downtown Raleigh until the museum closes at 5 p.m.

The advance tickets are a relative bargain — $5 per adult compared to $7 the day of the fair. Children ages 6 to 12 are $1 in advance and $2 the day of the fair. Children 5 and younger and adults 65 and older are free.

The real savings, though, come with the ride tickets. A sheet of 18 tickets is $10 in advance, compared to $18 the day of the fair. That adds up when you’re parting with up to 6 tickets per ride.

The fair opens at 3 p.m. today and runs through Sunday, Oct. 25.
