After 16 years, the Gresham Lake Antique Mall in Raleigh will close its doors at the end of this month.

Assistant manager Sheri Walker said she did not want to elaborate on the specific reasons, but attributed the closure to "financial reasons."

The antique mall, which is home to about 40 antique and vintage dealers, will close for good at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 31.

Some of the dealers may surface at other antique marketplaces throughout the Triangle. But customers who wish to keep up with their favorite dealers should stop by soon, Walker said. The antique mall will have no way to track the dealers once they leave the building at 6917 Capital Blvd. Many are already holding sales and preparing to move.

"You need to do it now," she said.

In Carrboro, Jon and Chyenna Jessee, who were selling coffee from a bright yellow cart called the Jolt-n-Bolt, have opened a restaurant and coffee shop. Customers at Jessee's Coffee Bar can sit down and eat a meal or buy fresh-roasted coffee by the pound. The coffee is still sold under its brand name, The Kind Coffee.

The restaurant is in the old Padgett Station building at 401 E. Main St.

Hair stylists Keith Woodlief and Wendell Edwards are returning to the Triangle to reopen their Raleigh salon that closed in 2004. The two have a long history in the area, formerly operating Wendell and Company in Cameron Village and then Wendell & Woodlief Designs. Their new salon will be called The W and is at 5205 Oak Park Road, off Glenwood Avenue. It will open in early November.

Two years after Raleigh barbecue joint Don Murray's closed, there is finally new activity on its site. Workers have torn down much of what was once the front façade and are renovating the building on Capital Boulevard. Owner Bob Moulton said he's simply renovating. There has been no lease for the building signed yet.
