St. Augustine's celebrated Homecoming/Senior Day with an impressive 31-7 win over Livingstone on Saturday at Broughton High School Stadium.
The win kept the Falcons (3-5 overall, 3-2 CIAA) in the CIAA Western Division title hunt with two games remaining in the regular season. The Falcons are one game behind division leader Fayetteville State.
The Falcons struck first in the opening quarter when Tyron Laughinghouse scored on a 43-yard punt return and Adison Daniels kicked the extra point. Daniels added a 20-yard field goal in the second quarter for a 10-0 halftime lead.
In the first half, the Falcons had 130 yards of total offense and one interception. But a rock-solid defense limited the Blue Bears (0-8, 0-5) to eight total yards.
Defense sparked the Falcons in the third quarter when defensive end Marcus Crump picked up a fumble and ran seven yards for a touchdown.
Tailback Walter Sanders finished off the Blue Bears with two touchdown runs, covering 38 and 28 yards, in the fourth quarter.
Sanders rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries after entering the game in the second half.

Shaw 53, Chowan 20: Thanks to a balanced scoring attack -- both on offense and defense -- Shaw defeated host Chowan.
Bears quarterback Brandon Landers threw for two touchdowns and rushed for a third, while Julius Gregory had two receiving touchdowns, Raymond Williams rushed for two, and Quintez Smith returned both a fumble and an interception for touchdowns.
The win lifts Shaw to 6-2 overall and 3-2 in the CIAA. Chowan fell to 1-7 and 1-4.
N.C. Central 52, Central Methodist 7: Michael Johnson threw two touchdown passes and N.C. Central beat visiting Central Methodist (5-2).
Johnson went 15-for-20 for 218 yards, including a 59-yard touchdown pass to Andrew Johnson and a 49-yarder to Geovonie Irvine. Andrew Johnson caught five passes for 106 yards.
N.C. Central (1-6) led 38-0 at halftime.
Arthur Goforth scored on a 47-yard punt return and Malik Cromartie scored on an 11-yard return of a blocked punt for the Eagles.
Tim Shankle rushed for 93 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries for N.C. Central.
Old Dominion 28, Campbell 17: Thomas DeMarco passed for three touchdowns to lead Old Dominion to victory over visiting Campbell.
DeMarco was 8-for-14 for 145 yards for the Monarchs (5-2). His first scoring pass was 42 yards to Reid Evans, then he had scoring strikes of 14 and 41 yards to Nick Mayers. DeMarco also had 12 carries for 38 yards
Old Dominion freshman Desmond Williams added a career-high 145 yards on 29 carries with one touchdown.
Campbell (1-5), which lost its fifth straight game, led 10-7 at halftime.
Daniel Polk was 16 of 23 for 185 yards for the Camels and also rushed 17 times for 70 yards and one touchdown.
Appalachian State 44, Wofford 34: Armanti Edwards threw for 415 yards and two touchdowns to help visiting Appalachian State rally for the victory over Wofford.
Edwards was 27-of-34 and threw scoring passes of 27 and 57 yards to Brian Quick, and the Mountaineers (4-2, 3-0 Southern Conference) scored the final 24 points for their 15th consecutive conference victory.
Wofford fell to 1-5 and 0-3.
