Wake County

Quail Legends Haunted House, hosted by the Capital City Steelers. 5107 Falls of Neuse Road at Millbrook Road. 7 p.m. to midnight today and Saturday. $10 for 16 and older; $5 for under 16.

"Terror at Possum Creek: No Vacancy" haunted house by the Raleigh Jaycees. At the former Circuit City at 4601 Creedmoor Road, Raleigh. Tonight and Saturday. Ages 12 and up.

"The Frightmare" haunted house. 1505 Capital Blvd., Raleigh. 7 p.m.-midnight today-Sunday. $13-$16. 210-8870. www.thefrightmare.com

Lakemont Spooky Trail at the Lakemont Swim and Tennis Club. 409 Harvard St., Raleigh. Kids version from 4:30 to 6 p.m. today. Scary version from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. today. $1.

Activities at North Hills. Pumpkin painting and crafts from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. Children and pet costume contests at 10a.m. Saturday. Trick or treating at participating stores from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday.

Hallelujah House 2009. A Halloween alternative with special effects. 7 p.m. today and Saturday. Raleigh First Church of the Nazarene, 1329 U.S. 70 West, Garner. 772-0515.

Trick or treating at the Executive Mansion, 200 N. Blount St., Raleigh. Gates will be open from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday.

"War of the Worlds" radio play. N.C. State University's student radio station, WKNC 88.1 FM, will air a live Triangle version of the H.G. Wells' novel at 7p.m. Saturday. The story of an alien invasion panicked New York and New Jersey when Orson Welles did a version on Oct.30, 1938.

Jordan Lake Halloween Festival. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Jordan Lake Farm, 1226 Martha's Chapel Road, Apex. $10-$15. 362-6300.

St. John's Annual Trunk or Treat Fall Festival. Games, storytelling and more. 3:30-6 p.m. Saturday. 1615A Oberlin Road, Raleigh. 832-5134.

Durham County

Durham Jaycees 37th Annual Haunted House. American Tobacco Campus, Durham. Open through Saturday. Tickets are $7. Proceeds go to local charities.

Hallow-Eno. 6:30-9 p.m. Saturday. West Point on the Eno, 5101 N. Roxboro Road, Durham. 471-1623.

Orange County

Laser Halloween Show at Morehead Planetarium and Science Center. 250 E. Franklin St., Chapel Hill. Saturday at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $7.50 for students and Morehead members and $9.50 for adults.

Creepy Crawly Halloween. Ages 4 and up, 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturday. N.C. Botanical Garden, Fordham Boulevard and Old Mason Road, Chapel Hill. 962-0522.
