Adam Willets
Campbell's redshirt sophomore placekicker made three field goals last week against Butler, from 38, 43 and 37 yards, and kicked an extra point. The Gibsonville native was named the Pioneer Football League's special teams player of the week. His three field goals tied a school record, while the 43-yarder was the longest in his career.
Armanti Edwards
Last week, the left-handed quarterback notched 381 yards of total offense against Georgia Southern before he was taken out of the game with 11:06 remaining in the third quarter. He completed 26 of 34 passes for 320 yards, adding to his staggering career offensive yardage statistics (12,855). He's only the second NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision player to amass 8,000 passing yards and 4,000 rushing yards. Today the Mountaineers (5-2, 4-0 Southern Conference) travel to Greenville, S.C., to face rival Furman (4-3, 3-2).
Terrell Hudgins
Earlier in the season, the Elon senior receiver became the Division I all-time career receptions leader and now has 343 career catches. The Rocky Mount native needs just 188 yards to become the FCS's all-time receiving yards leader. A stellar performance today against Wofford could propel him past Jerry Rice, who at Mississippi Valley State hauled in 4,693 receiving yards from 1981-84. Hudgins has 4,506 career receiving yards.
Catawba wants to finish strong
Catawba has three games remaining on its schedule this season. After opening with three consecutive wins, the Indians (4-4, 1-4 SAC) went on a three-game losing streak. They look to close out the season strong, starting with a road victory today over Brevard. The Indians have struggled in the South Atlantic Conference this season.
Shaw playing for playoff berth
Fayetteville State clinched the CIAA western division with a 56-6 victory over St. Augustine's last week, leaving the Falcons and Shaw out of the league's championship picture. Shaw hosts Johnson C. Smith at 6 p.m. today at Millbrook High and with an 8-2 record is still vying for an NCAA Division II playoff spot.
Morehead State at Campbell
1 p.m., Barker-Lane Stadium
One of these teams will capture its first Pioneer Football League win this season. Campbell (1-6, 0-4) has come close with its potent offense yet fallen short in several contests. Morehead State (2-6, 0-5) has one of the conference's toughest defenses despite its five-game losing streak.
Central State (Ohio) at N.C. Central
1:30 p.m., O'Kelly-Riddick Stadium, Durham
N.C. Central collected its first win of the season on Oct. 17, a 52-7 victory over Central Methodist. The Eagles (1-6) enter this contest looking to win two in row and hoping to finish on a high note after plying through a difficult schedule that featured Duke and Appalachian State. They also lost twice in double-overtime.
