Spikes punished: Top-ranked Florida will be without star linebacker Brandon Spikes for the first half of Saturday's game against Vanderbilt.

Coach Urban Meyer suspended Spikes on Monday, two days after the defensive captain apparently attempted to gouge the eyes of Georgia running back Washaun Ealey in a 41-17 victory.

"I don't condone that," Meyer said. "I understand what goes on on the football [field], but there's no place for that. ... That's not who he is. That's not who we are. He got caught up in emotion."

ACC schedule in flux: The ACC on Monday announced that game times and networks for four of six games scheduled for Nov. 14 have been placed on a six-day option.

The four games placed on six-day hold are Florida State at Wake Forest, Clemson at N.C. State, Georgia Tech at Duke and Miami at North Carolina.

Game times will be announced by noon Sunday.

CIAA honors: Shaw's Edawn Coughman was voted offensive lineman of the week by the CIAA, and teammate Travis Robinson (313 yards passing, four TDs) was selected the offensive back of the week. Cornerback Charles McKenzie of St. Augustine's was the defensive back of the week.
