CARY -- All-ACC freshman midfielder Kelly Conheeney scored just over six minutes into overtime, lifting fourth-seeded Virginia Tech (14-6) past fifth-seeded Wake Forest (13-5-2) 1-0 in Wednesday's quarterfinals of the ACC Women's Soccer Championship.

Tenth-ranked Virginia Tech (14-6) moved on to Friday's 5 p.m. semifinal at WakeMed Soccer Park, where it will face top-seeded and third-ranked Florida State, a 2-0 winner over Duke on Wednesday. The 19th-ranked Demon Deacons (13-5-2) will await Monday night's NCAA Tournament selection announcements and a likely at-large berth.

Conheeney's goal came after 90 minutes of scoreless play in regulation. Stephanie Hylton's corner kick was knocked out by a Wake Forest defender, but the ball came right to Conheeney, who finished from 12 yards out for her eighth goal of the season.

BC advances: Second-seeded Boston College reached the semifinals by outscoring seventh-seeded Virginia 3-2 on penalty kicks after 110 scoreless minutes of regulation and overtime play.

BC goalkeeper Jillian Mastroianni made the deciding save on an attempt by the Cavaliers' Meghan Lenczyk to send the sixth-ranked Eagles (16-2-1) into Friday's 7:30 p.m. semifinal match between the winner of Wednesday's late game between third-seeded North Carolina and sixth-seeded Maryland.

Virginia (9-5-5), ranked 25th, saw several chances thwarted late in regulation. Mastroianni saved a shot by Jess Rostedt with 3:21 remaining, and an open shot by Lenczyk with 1:16 left hit the post.
