When Eli Manning and Philip Rivers play at Giants Stadium on Sunday, it will be the first matchup between the two quarterbacks who were swapped for each other during the first round of the 2004 draft.

Be sure to watch, said Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson, whose spot in San Diego was secured as part of a draft-weekend blockbuster trade, in 2001.

"There's a natural rivalry there with Philip and Eli, as it was with Michael Vick and myself from the trade," Tomlinson said. "Those two are going to be linked for their whole career. So, as a fan, that's something you want to watch."

Manning preferred the Giants to the Chargers, who took him anyway with the No. 1 pick, then dealt him to New York for Rivers and a handful of picks.

Two years ago, Manning led the Giants to a Super Bowl victory.

"I don't have any regrets," he told San Diego reporters during a conference call Wednesday.

Rivers, the former N.C. State star, said he's happy the Chargers acquired him and two future Pro Bowlers - outside linebacker Shawne Merriman and kicker Nate Kaeding.

"I think I like it here a whole lot better," Rivers said. "It certainly fits me out here."

Delhomme practices: Jake Delhomme has recovered from a chest injury, but the Panthers are without a healthy fullback ahead of Sunday's game at New Orleans.

Delhomme practiced Wednesday, three days after getting hit in the chest while throwing a pass in the win over Arizona. He was taken to a hospital for a CT scan, which showed no internal injuries.

Fullback Brad Hoover sprained his right ankle in the third quarter Sunday and was carted off the field. His backup, rookie Tony Fiammetta, later left with a concussion. Both players missed practice Wednesday.

Cable, Davis talk: Coach Tom Cable says he has spoken with Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis about allegations that Cable has a history of violent behavior toward women.

Cable said Wednesday he talked to Davis within the past two days and will keep the content of the conversation private. He said his job status was not discussed and he plans to coach the team for the remainder of the season.

The Raiders are undergoing a "serious evaluation" of allegations made to ESPN by Cable's first wife, Sandy Cable, and former girlfriend, Marie Lutz, that the coach physically abused them at various times during their relationships.

Cable has acknowledged striking Sandy Cable with an open hand more than 20 years ago. He says that was the only time he's ever touched a woman inappropriately.

Hasselbeck rests injured ribs: Matt Hasselbeck watched most of Wednesday's practice to rest his broken ribs, though the Seahawks expect the three-time Pro Bowl quarterback to start again Sunday against Detroit.

Seattle coach Jim Mora said Hasselbeck "was a little bit beat up, like what happens to a lot of quarterbacks in this league" after playing in all of Sunday's 38-17 loss at Dallas.

Hasselbeck crumpled on the turf after a hit in the third quarter but finished the game.

Boldin misses practice: Wide receiver Anquan Boldin, bothered by a sprained right ankle, sat out Arizona's practice Wednesday but says he expect to play in the Cardinals' game Sunday at Chicago.

Boldin's ankle took a shot in last Sunday's 34-21 loss to the Carolina Panthers. He first injured the ankle against Houston on Oct. 11. He didn't practice last week until Friday and said he expected the same thing this week.
