Guys holler in bars all the time and they're rarely worth paying attention to, but Scott Miller is the rare exception. The former V-Roys frontman is a decade into a solo career that has seen him far surpass his former band's heights, making a series of excellently crafted bar-room pop records long on characters as well as hooks. The latest addition to the Miller canon is "For Crying Out Loud" (F.A.Y. Recordings), which kicks off with the razor-sharp unemployment anthem "Cheap Ain't Cheap (For Crying Out Loud)" and just gets more pointed from there. Miller plays Raleigh's Lincoln Theatre on Sunday night at 8 with Reckless Kelly.
