The 29th Annual North Carolina Veterans Day Parade will be held this morning through downtown Raleigh.

The parade, which will begin between 9:15 and 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of Davie and Fayetteville streets, will wend its way through downtown, ending up at the state Capitol.

Parade organizers say more than 71 organizations will be participating.

The organizations taking part will include an Army band, as well as bands from Enloe and Middle Creek high schools.

The parade grand marshal is Anne Perry Capucille, a Raleigh native who served in the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps during World War II.

Afterward, a ceremony will be held on the Capitol grounds near the veterans memorial, featuring guest speaker Maj. Gen. David N. Blackledge, commanding general, U.S. Army Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command (Airborne).
