As a retired truck driver, I want to thank U.S. Reps. G.K. Butterfield, Bob Etheridge, Brad Miller, David Price and Mel Watt for helping seniors in North Carolina by voting for the House health care bill.

They had the courage to stand up to the big insurance lobbyists and vote for a bill that closes the doughnut hole coverage gap in Medicare Part D, helps early retirees afford coverage, assists families with the costs of long-term care and creates a pro-consumer public alternative to private insurance plans.

We owe Butterfield, Etheridge, Miller, Price and Watt a debt of gratitude for making it easier for Americans of all ages to see a doctor and get a prescription filled.
