The Triangle could see as much as 2 inches of rain before the passing storm finishes late Thursday night, adding to the 2 or 3 inches that have already dropped across the Triangle.

A flood warning has been issued for the Neuse River near Clayton and Smithfield, and the National Weather Service was also keeping an eye on the Haw River, which could reach flood stage Thursday.

In Raleigh, the spots around Crabtree and Walnut creeks that typically flood have not yet reached their banks, but water is high and swift.
