HILLSBOROUGH -- Orange County school board member Ted Triebel won't serve any jail time after being convicted of driving while impaired after his single-car crash a year ago.

Traveling north on Guess Road in northern Orange County last November, Triebel ran off the right side of the road, hit a mailbox, flipped his car and hit a tree, according to court testimony this week. Blood tests found his blood-alcohol content at the legal limit of 0.08.

District Court Judge Joe Buckner sentenced Triebel to a year of unsupervised probation and 24 hours of community service. He also cannot drive after consuming any alcohol, even if his blood alcohol content is below the legal limit.

Before the accident, Triebel had a perfectdriving record.
