Jamie Langenbrunner scored the shootout winner, as the New Jersey Devils claimed a 2-1 victory over the Boston Bruins at TD Garden. Zach Parise scored New Jersey's lone goal in regulation and also added a goal in the shootout, as the Devils won their second straight game and improved to 10-2-1 on the road this season. New Jersey had won nine straight away from home to open the campaign before an 0-2-1 road trip last week. Martin Brodeur made 32 saves for the Devils. He also set the all-time record for minutes played by an NHL goaltender, surpassing Patrick Roy's previous mark of 60,235. Blake Wheeler scored the lone goal for Boston, while Tuukka Rask turned aside 36 shots in defeat. The Bruins, coming off a 4-0-0 road trip, are 0-1-2 in their last three at home.

Drew Stafford added a goal and an assist for the Sabres, who had lost a season-high four straight (0-3-1) since beating the Flyers at the Wachovia Center on November 14. Paul Gaustad also scored, while Ryan Miller made 31 saves to improve to an impressive 13-4-2 this season. Mike Richards and Braydon Coburn both scored for the Flyers, who have lost four of their last five games. Ray Emery allowed all four goals on 25 shots to lose his fourth straight start.

Uniondale, NY (Sports Network) - John Tavares scored the go-ahead goal in the late stages of the third period, and the New York Islanders held on to edge the Pittsburgh Penguins, 3-2, in an Atlantic Division matchup at Nassau Coliseum. Josh Bailey and Sean Bergenheim also tallied for the Islanders, who were able to recover nicely after dropping a 2-1 decision to Philadelphia on Wednesday. Dwayne Roloson turned aside 19-of-21 shots for New York, which has split its last six games. Evgeni Malkin and Matt Cooke scored for Pittsburgh, which had a three-game winning streak snapped. Brent Johnson got the start between the pipes and finished with 34 saves. The Penguins led, 2-1, after two periods, but Bergenheim took a feed from Frans Nielsen and ripped a wrister just inside the far post to tie the game 1:24 into the third.

St. Paul, MN (Sports Network) - Chuck Kobasew recorded his second career hat trick, lifting Minnesota to a 5-3 victory over Colorado in the opener of a home-and-home series between the Northwest Division foes. Andrew Brunette had an assist and scored the game-winner midway through the third for the Wild, who received 31 saves from Niklas Backstrom to finish a four-game homestand 2-1-1. Chris Stewart, Kyle Quincey and Paul Stastny each lit the lamp for the Avalanche, who have lost four of five overall. Craig Anderson was beaten four times on 31 shots to take the loss.

Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 28 stops for his first shutout of the season as the Anaheim Ducks stopped the red-hot Chicago Blackhawks with a 3-0 win at Honda Center. Teemu Selanne had two goals while Nick Boynton notched the other goal for the Ducks, who have won four of their last five. Corey Perry picked up an assist to extend his point streak to 17 games, which ties Selanne's franchise record set during the 1998-99 season. Cristobal Huet stopped 31 shots for the Blackhawks, who were riding an eight-game winning streak coming into the game.
