Regarding Dennis Edwards' comments [in the Nov. 16 Faceoff over a cabbie dress code in Raleigh] on having "some consistency and professionalism" for cab drivers, isn't it the responsibility of the owner of the company to determine what a driver should wear?
If the Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau contacted the cab companies and promoted a program to recommend cab companies to our visitors and hotels that met "dress code" requirements, wouldn't that have inspired the companies? Since "most of the cab companies are very supportive" of the city-imposed dress code, they would have complied without any law being forced down their throat.
Don't our elected officials have better things to do than limit personal freedoms? It's a business decision, not a law to be broken!
