The joys of shopping might make you a little giddy. But if that feeling is not enough, perhaps an evening of wine tasting while you peruse the racks at Raleigh's Cameron Village shops will get you right happy.

Travel the Village will feature participating stores offering wine from several countries: Beanie + Cecil will feature Chilean wines; expect French wines at Certain Things; Fleur takes on Italy; SoHo, the grapes of Argentina; Wardrobbe will serve wine from the U.S., particularly California; and Cameron Bar & Grill will have Australian wines. Drink and get shopping 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Gift shop with jewelry, clothes, java, sweets

"Brand Fandango #8," Designbox gallery's annual show of local creativity, launches this week too.

Essentially a gift shop, Brand Fandago features artisans offering handmade toys, letterpress stationery, paintings, ceramics and more. On the fashion end, there's plenty. Among the names: Revamp, the Durham-based reclaimed vintage line; jewelry from Megan Clark, Wingo Designs, Zass Design, and Metamorphis Metals; and screenprinted clothing from Jaime Zollars, Ahpeele and Captive Collective. New this year is local buzz and sweets: Counter Culture Coffee and local bakers Crumb will help keep your energy up.

The Brand Fandago shop will be open 7 to 10 p.m. Friday. It continues through Dec. 23 at Designbox weekdays noon to 7 p.m.; Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Designbox is at 323 W. Martin Street, between Harrington and Dawson streets, in Raleigh. www.designbox.us/gallery.html, 834-3552

E-shopping at Gena Chandler

After nearly four years as a North Hills boutique, Gena Chandler is expanding its reach with an e-commerce site.

The site, www.genachandler.com, launched late last week, and offers the mix of high-end style you find in the store. Indeed, say owners Chandler Woodall and Gena Faigenbaum Combs, everything that sells on the site is available in the store.

Even better, if you prefer browsing at the actual boutique, you can still benefit. Web promotions will be honored at the store.

More good news for the store: Gena Chandler is featured in Lucky's December issue and will be featured in In Style magazine in February.

Gena Chandler is at 4209-106 Lassiter Hills Road in Raleigh at Alexan North Hills.
