Player to watch: MSU point guard Kalin Lucas, a junior, is the Big Ten Preseason Player of the Year after winning the postseason award last season, and he's going to be a handful for the Tar Heels, who are thin at guard.

Observation: The Tar Heels (6-1) topped the Spartans (5-1) by an average of 26 points in their two meetings - during the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, and national championship game - last season. Expect UNC to have a tougher time tonight. Carolina has back just one starter, but MSU has three with long memories.
