Moreton Neal, Metro magazine's food editor, has a new book: "Chapel Hill Food Lover's Guide with Carrboro and Hillsborough."

A Southern Season is hosting a gala book launch and signing from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 6. Ten percent of book and store sales during the gala will be donated to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, Stop Hunger Now and Orange Congregations in Mission.

The book will only be available for purchase through A Southern Season Dec. 6 through 24.

Caribbean Christmas

Durham's Blu Seafood and Bar has a couple of intriguing dinners on the horizon:

Tonight at 7 p.m., the restaurant is holding an Allagash beer dinner, offering four courses and beers for $39. The menu will feature Maine-inspired fare, because Allagash is based there.

At 7 p.m. Dec. 16, chef Tim Lyons will offer a Key West Christmas dinner. Four courses of Caribbean food and wine will cost $45.

Bermuda shorts and flip-flops are encouraged, manager Eryk Pruitt said.

Blu Seafood and Bar is at 2002 Hillsborough Road. Call 286-9777 to make a reservation.

Greek salsa

Xios Authentic Greek Cuisine of Apex is offering free salsa dance lessons on Saturday starting at 9 p.m. Those who come for dinner will not have to pay the $5 cover charge. The lessons last until 10 p.m. and then a deejay will help folks dance the night away.

The restaurant is at 800 W. Williams St., off N.C. 55.
