'Sex and the City" style comes to the Triangle this week. Jewelry from the Carol Tannenbaum Vintage Collection will be showcased at Vermillion boutique in Raleigh 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.
Pieces from the vintage costume jewelry collection have been worn by celebrities such as first lady Michelle Obama and Sarah Jessica Parker, who even wore one of the pieces in the upcoming "Sex and the City" movie. At the Vermillion show, several ornate, jeweled brooches will be shown, perfect for adding a little extra sparkle to a holiday party ensemble. In addition to the brooches, necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings will also be available.

Old shoes, new life
SOHO Shoes' annual "Shoes to the Rescue" event is under way. Donate a pair of gently worn shoes and you'll get 20 percent off one new pair of shoes. The collected shoes go to the Raleigh Rescue Mission, so the worn shoes can be men's, women's or children's shoes. According to co-owner Atiya Merchant, last year the store collected more than 500 pairs of shoes for the rescue mission.

The Arboretum at Weston in Cary is holding its annual holiday open house, 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
