DURHAM -- Police have identified the victim of an early-Saturday-morning shooting as Guadalupe Alejandro Lira, 35, of Durham.
Homicide investigators think Lira was shot after a disturbance at a club on Miami Boulevard near Fay Street, according to a Durham police news release. Friends were taking him to the hospital, but their car apparently broke down on the northbound lanes of the Durham Freeway between Chapel Hill Road and Swift Avenue, and they flagged down a police officer.
Lira was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
