Thank you for your thoughtful Dec. 16 editorial "Judging 'life.' " I have been appalled by Gov. Beverly Perdue's response to the rulings of the courts in the matter of release of life-sentence inmates. My first expectation of a leader is respect for the judicial process. Perdue is acting as a politician, not as a leader, and I am disappointed, even disillusioned. I was expecting so much more of her.
