Durham police investigate three shootings, two of them fatal

DURHAM -- Police on Monday released the names of two men killed in separate shootings Friday night and early Monday morning.

On Monday afternoon, police responded to a third shooting. The man in that incident, who had been shot in the back, was taken to Duke Hospital, where his condition was unknown Monday night.

The first shooting occurred about 11:30 p.m. Friday in the 1500 block of East Pettigrew Street.

Officers found a man, later identified as Timothy Lee McMillian, 24, lying beside the road, according to a police department news release. McMillian was taken to Duke Hospital, where, police said, he later died.

Officers did not have a motive or a suspect Monday night. Anyone with information is asked to call Investigator D. West at 560-4440, ext. 29341.

The second shooting occurred about 12:15 a.m. Monday in the 2100 block of East Main Street. The victim was identified as Luis Octavio Rodriquez, 24. He also died of his injuries, according to police.

Officers did not have a motive or a suspect description in that case Monday night. Anyone with information is asked to call Investigator C. Sole at 560-4440, ext. 29350.

About 1:47 p.m. Monday, police responded to a shooting in the 2100 block of Broad Street.

Preliminary reports indicate the victim suffered a gunshot wound to the lower back, according to police. He was taken to Duke Hospital.

Anyone with information in that shooting is asked to call Investigator J.K. Salmon at 560-4440, ext. 2923.
