I was pleased to read Jennifer A. Marshall's Other Opinion piece "Making better news on marriage" (Dec. 19). We talk a lot about poverty, the spreading gap between the rich and poor, and the lack of good parenting. The decline of commitment to marriage during recent decades has taken a heavy toll. It is difficult to understand why there is not more concern. It is my hope and prayer that much more will be heard from folks like Marshall, and that we will see response from schools, churches and civic leaders.
