From staff reports

DURHAM -- A tractor-trailer was wedged under the Pettigrew Street railroad overcrossing in Durham Saturday morning, causing damage to the truck and closing a lane of Roxboro Street.

The incident occurred around 6:45 a.m., when the truck's driver tried to pass under the low clearance overpass, according to Highway Patrol.

Crews worked for several hours to pull the truck from beneath the bridge, dispatchers said. Police also planned to inspect the bridge for damage.

This is sixth time a truck has hit the underside of the bridge since early 2008, according to Durham police.

It is unclear if the driver will face any charges for the incident.
