A crazy bounce off the glass allowed Derek Roy to score into an unattended net 4:02 into overtime, and the Sabres overcame a three-goal deficit for the second straight outing and beat the visiting Atlanta Thrashers 4-3 on Friday night.

Jochen Hecht had two goals and an assist, Tim Connolly had a goal and assist, and Ryan Miller stopped 32 shots on the day he was selected to the U.S. Olympic team.

Buffalo was coming off a 4-3 win over Pittsburgh on Tuesday night in which it also erased a 3-0 deficit. The Sabres became the first team to win consecutive games when trailing by three or more goals since Dallas did it in January 2006 in beating Anaheim 4-3 in a shootout and Detroit 6-3.

Ilya Kovalchuk, registering his 600th career point, Bryan Little and Evander Kane scored for the Thrashers, 0-5-2 in their past seven games.

Late Thursday

Blackhawks 5, Devils 1: Cristobal Huet stopped 26 shots, and Jonathan Toews had a goal and an assist to lead host Chicago past New Jersey.

Troy Brouwer, Ben Eager, Andrew Ladd and John Madden also scored for Chicago, which improved to 57 points, remaining two behind NHL-leading San Jose. The Blackhawks won for the fourth time in five games and are 8-2-0 in their last 10.

Huet lost a bid for his fourth shutout when Jamie Langenbrunner scored with 1:33 left in the third.

Flames 2, Oilers 1: Curtis Glencross tipped in a point shot by Mark Giordano during a third-period power play to lead Calgary over visiting Edmonton.

Craig Conroy also scored for the Flames, who have won three straight after a 3-6-2 start to December.

Shawn Horcoff scored the lone goal for the Oilers, who snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 3-1 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs at home on Wednesday.

Playing in just his seventh game of the season, Calgary's Curtis McElhinney stopped 21 shots to improve to 3-2. Edmonton's Jeff Deslauriers made 37 saves.
