The Carolina Hurricanes announced Saturday that the team has reassigned forwards Zach Boychuk and Jiri Tlusty to Albany of the American Hockey League.
Boychuk has earned one assist in three games this season with the Hurricanes. Tlusty has one goal in two games with the Canes.
Blues fire Murray: The worst home record in the NHL led to the end of Andy Murray's tenure as St. Louis Blues coach.
The franchise replaced the 58-year-old Murray on Saturday, hoping a younger man can better motivate a youthful roster that's underachieved. Davis Payne, coach of the Blues' AHL affiliate in Peoria, Ill., was appointed interim head coach and was to coach St. Louis at home Saturday night against Chicago.
Murray presided over a second-half surge that led the Blues to a playoff berth last spring, and the team picked up the option on his contract in September.
The Blues entered Saturday 6-13-3 at home, including a season-opening victory in Sweden, and had lost four in a row.
Bruins sign Satan: Unrestricted free-agent left winger Miroslav Satan signed a one-year deal with the Boston Bruins on Saturday.
The 35-year-old Satan had 17 goals in 65 games last season for Pittsburgh. He added a goal and five assists in the playoffs to help the Penguins win the Stanley Cup.
Selected to Slovakia's Olympic team Tuesday, he has 354 goals and 367 assists in 1,012 NHL games.
