TE Quinton Alton, Memphis, Tenn., 6-6, 250: Didn't play football until his senior year of high school. Alton's listed as an "athlete" by UNC because he also played defensive end in high school.

OL Nick Appel, Vienna, Va., 6-6, 310: Played tackle and defensive line in high school.

RB Giovanni Bernard, Davie, Fla., 5-10, 205: Originally committed to Notre Dame, Bernard is the only running back in the class.

C Russell Bodine, Scottsville, Va., 6-4, 290: The only center in the class, a need position for UNC. Davis praised Bodine's toughness.

ATH Tre Boston, Cape Coral, Fla., 6-1, 185: Played defensive back, receiver and running back in high school and ranked as the No. 8 athlete in the state according to the Orlando Sentinel.

CB D.J. Bunn(*), Smithfield, 6-0, 205: This "Grayshirt" committed to UNC last year, prepped at Hargrave Military Academy and enrolled at UNC in January.

LB P.J. Clyburn, Statesville, 6-2, 215: Speed player will be moved from safety to linebacker in college; also returned kicks at West Iredell.

ATH Ethan Farmer, Tabor City, 6-3, 255: SuperPrep All-America starred at both tight end and defensive end at South Columbus.

WR Brendon Felder, Monroeville, Pa., 5-10, 175: Undersized receiver scored 20 touchdowns as a senior and also played basketball in high school.

TE Sean Fitzpatrick(*), Pittsford, N.Y., 6-5, 235: Rated No. 3 player in the state of New York; enrolled in January.

DT Carlos Gray, Pinson, Ala., 6-3, 290: Under-the-radar recruit impressed Davis with his frame and athletic ability (also plays basketball).

OT James Hurst(*), Plainfield, Ind., 6-7, 305: Prize of the class, has a chance to compete for starting left tackle spot.

DL Tim Jackson, St. Petersburg, Fla., 6-5, 235: One of two, tall defensive ends that will be expected to eventually replace the current starters.

OT T.J. Leifheit(*), Wilmington, 6-7, 320: Top in-state recruit signed by UNC; plays left tackle and expects to provide immediate help on a thin offensive line.

LB Darius Lipford, Lenoir, 6-3, 215: An athletic linebacker in the mold of current UNC star Quan Sturdivant.

LB Ty Linton, Charlotte, 6-2, 215: Another hard-nosed linebacker Davis expects to help after the current group of starters exit.

DL Kareem Martin, Roanoke Rapids, 6-6, 245: The bookend defensive end to go with Jackson.

DB Jabari Price, Pompano Beach, Fla., 6-0, 175: Made five interceptions at cornerback in his senior season.

ATH Sean Tapley, Jacksonville, 6-1, 185: Switched from South Carolina to UNC; played receiver in high school.

ATH Reggie Wilkins, Shelby, 5-10, 175: A high school quarterback who is expected to play receiver or defensive back for the Tar Heels.

DT Brandon Willis(*), Duncan, S.C., 6-3, 270: Even Davis called Willis' recruitment "bizarre" for his much-publicized switch from Tennessee.
