Teenager Melanie Oudin won her two singles matches to lead the United States to a 4-1 victory over France in Lievin, France, and secure a spot in the Fed Cup semifinals.

Oudin, 18, beat Julie Coin 7-6 (3), 6-4 in just over two hours Sunday to give the U.S. a 3-0 lead.

The U.S. will next face Russia on April 24-25.

Pauline Parmentier then beat Christina McHale of the United States 6-4, 6-4 before Liezel Huber and Bethanie Mattek-Sands defeated Stephanie Cohen-Aloro and Alize Cornet 6-2, 6-3 in doubles.

Oudin, who won a USTA Pro Circuit event in Raleigh in May, had saved two break points at 5-5 in the first set to force the tiebreaker, where she hit three straight winners to close out the set.

Four-time champion Russia won the decisive doubles match to edge Serbia 3-2.

The Czech Republic reached its second consecutive semifinal after beating Germany in the decisive doubles match to secure a 3-2 victory. The Czechs will face defending champion Italy, which beat Ukraine 4-1.

Zagreb Indoors: Top-seeded Marin Cilic successfully defended his title by beating Michael Berrer of Germany in three sets in Zagreb, Croatia.

Cilic, a 22-year-old Croatian, won 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-4 in 2 hours, 38 minutes to claim his second title of the year and the fifth of his career.

SA Open: Third-seeded Feliciano Lopez of Spain won his second career ATP Tour title and first since 2004 by beating Stephane Robert of France 7-5, 6-1 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Robert was playing in his first career ATP final. He returned to the tour six months ago following a bout of hepatitis that sidelined him for 15 months.

IOC open relay medal probe

The IOC opened a formal investigation Sunday into a doping case that could lead to the stripping of gold medals from a U.S. women's track and field relay team at the 2004 Athens Olympics.

The International Olympic Committee executive board set up a disciplinary commission into the case of Crystal Cox, who ran in the preliminaries of the winning 4x400 team in Athens.

The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency said late last month that Cox had admitted to using anabolic steroids and accepted a four-year suspension and disqualification of her results from 2001 to 2004.

Lee Kun-hee reinstated: Convicted Samsung ex-chairman Lee Kun-hee was reinstated Sunday as a full member of the International Olympic Committee, a boost for South Korea's bid to host the 2018 Winter Games. Lee voluntarily gave up his IOC rights after being indicted in 2008 in a financial and tax evasion case. The government pardoned Lee last year, clearing the way for his return to the IOC.

Loukas takes diving title

Christina Loukas won the senior 3-meter event Sunday at the USA Diving Winter National Championships in Columbus, Ohio, earning a national title after victories at the 2008 U.S. Olympic trials and a silver medal at the World University Games.

David Boudia won the men's 10-meter platform for the third time. He later won in synchronized diving for his 10th title overall.
