WiSpots, the Cary company featured last year on ABC's "Shark Tank," has decided to go it alone once more.
Last year the company joined with Worthington Healthcare of Raleigh to form WiFiciency. But the expanded suite of products offered by the combined business didn't appeal to potential investors and strategic partners, said Kevin Flannery, founder and CEO of WiSpots.
Consequently, Flannery said, it was in WiSpots' best interest to "move forward as a stand-alone business" with its original business plan: selling Wi-Fi services for physicians' offices. Patients can surf the Web for free, and the company makes money through advertising.
