Player to watch: Not a person, but an area - under the basket. N.C. State has been carved up by Maryland's "flex" offense, especially a slashing Greivis Vasquez. The Wolfpack has to do a better job defending the paint in front of the basket or a seventh straight loss to the Terps is inevitable.

Observation: With the Pack 2-9 in the ACC, it's time to give N.C. State's younger players a longer look. If Richard Howell and Josh Davis can help the 2011 team, now's the time to develop their confidence and give them experience in league play.
