WINSTON-SALEM -- Cetera DeGraffenreid tied the score with seven seconds left in regulation and Cierra Roberston-Warren scored five points in overtime as the North Carolina women's basketball team broke a five-game losing streak with a 65-59 win over Wake Forest on Thursday night at Joel Coliseum.
Secily Ray had 23 points to lead the Demon Deacons, who led by as many as 16 in the first half.
DeGraffenreid finished with a team-high 15 points to go with nine rebounds, six assists and no turnovers for North Carolina, which won for the first time since beating N.C. State on Jan. 25. Roberston-Warren had her best game against an ACC opponent, finishing with 11 points.
Wake Forest (15-11, 6-6 ACC) came out of the gate on fire, making seven of its first 10 field goals to build a double-digit lead within seven minutes. Behind Ray and three 3-point baskets from Courteney Morris, Wake extended its advantage to 30-14.
From there, the Deacons finally went cold, but the Tar Heels (17-8, 5-6) were unable to take advantage.
