Brian Litwin drove in the go-ahead run with a two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the eighth inning to lead Duke to a 5-3 series-clinching win over No. 11 North Carolina on Sunday afternoon at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

Duke (11-4, 2-1 ACC) trailed 3-2 heading into the eighth inning but got consecutive two-out hits from Eric Brady, who tied the score with a double, and Litwin, who drove in two with a two-strike single.

North Carolina dropped to 12-4, 1-2 in the ACC.

Duke junior Dennis O'Grady, in his first start since April 12, 2008, gave up three runs in six innings, scattering seven hits without issuing a walk.

Ben Grisz (1-1) tossed three shutout innings for the win.

Brady, Will Currier and Marcus Stroman had two hits each for Duke.

Levi Michael and Chaz Frank had two hits each for UNC, and Jesse Wierzbicki hit a two-run homer.

Clemson 7, N.C. State 6: Jeff Schaus and Kyle Parker drew consecutive bases-loaded walks with two outs in the eighth inning to lift host Clemson (13-1, 3-0 ACC) past N.C. State (11-4, 0-3) for a sweep of their weekend series.

N.C. State took a 6-5 lead in the seventh inning, using two singles and a walk to score a pair of runs. Pratt Maynard's two-out single drove in John Gianis with the go-ahead run.

But the Tigers took advantage of three straight walks with two outs in the eighth inning to score two runs. Wolfpack pitchers combined to walk eight batters in the game and 26 in the series.

In the Clemson eighth, John Hinson hit a one-out single, and Phil Pohl was hit by a pitch. Two batters later with two outs, Mike Freeman walked to load the bases. After being down in the count 0-2, Schaus worked another walk off of Grant Sasser (2-1) to plate Hinson and tie the score. The Wolfpack brought in Russell Wilson to face Parker in a battle of ACC quarterbacks. Parker walked on five pitches to bring home Pohl for the go-ahead run.

Diaz went 2-for-2 with an RBI for the Pack, and Drew Poulk hit a solo homer.

Georgia Tech 6, Wake Forest 5: Host Georgia Tech (13-1, 3-0 ACC) scored two runs in the seventh inning to rally past Wake Forest (6-11, 0-3) and complete a weekend series sweep.

In the seventh, the Jackets got a leadoff homer by Thomas Nichols. Jeff Rowland doubled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Cole Leonida to give Tech a 6-5 lead.

Mercer 10, Campbell 1: Host Mercer (12-5, 2-1 A-Sun) scored five runs in the first inning and never trailed to defeat Campbell (9-6, 1-2).

Logan Self went 2-for-4 to lead Campbell.

N.C. A&T 28, N.C. Central 2: The host Aggies (5-8) scored 11 runs in an inning for the second straight game against the Eagles (0-14). Akeem Hood, Anthony Wilson and Edward Pegues had two hits each for the Eagles.

Women's golf

LSU Classic: North Carolina shot a 7-over 295 in the final round to finish eighth with a 909 total at New Orleans.

Junior Sarah Thead was the top Tar Heel, tying for 15th place with an 8-over 224 total.

Auburn topped the 23-team field with an 889 total, seven strokes ahead of TCU.

Virginia was fifth at 902, Wake Forest ninth at 912 and N.C. State 15th at 302.

Softball

N.C. State 7, North Florida 0: Landon Warren hit a pair of homers, and Lindsay Campana pitched a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts as N.C. State (16-9) topped North Florida (10-15) at the Winthrop Invitational at Rock Hill, S.C.
