From staff reports

Vice President Joe Biden will visit Cree in Durham on Thursday to talk about issues important to the middle class, the White House announced Tuesday.

Biden will be joined on the trip by Energy Secretary Steven Chu. They will talk about the Obama administration's focus on issues such as creating manufacturing jobs and building a "clean energy economy."

The two will tour and make remarks at Cree, which makes energy-efficient LED lighting products. Cree recently received a $39 million tax credit through the federal stimulus act that allowed it to purchase new equipment and hire workers to increase production.
