Paul Krugman's March 13 column said there are three myths that are lies and misinformation about the Democratic leadership's attempt at health care reform.
1. The federal government already runs Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, etc. If I were selling government health care, I don't think that I would advertise the fact that they can make it just as fiscally successful as the existing programs and give you more of the same.
2. Democratic health care will control costs. Somehow 34 million people are going to get health insurance at essentially trivial cost. Now a lot of this will take place in the second decade. So let's get together for lunch at Bojangles on March 13, 2021. I have a lot more faith in my meeting that goal than what a bunch of self-serving politicians are going to do next week.
