AUSTIN, Texas -- Jene Morris scored 32 points as No. 11 seed San Diego State stunned sixth-seeded Texas 74-63 on the Longhorns' home court Sunday night in the first round of the NCAA women's basketball tournament's Memphis Regional at Austin, Texas.

Morris put on a dazzling display of 3-point shooting and quick-burst drives to the basket that tormented Texas the entire game.

She made four 3-pointers as the Aztecs (22-10) built a 19-point lead in the first half, then made the big shots and plays again in the second to put down Texas rallies.

It was the second straight season San Diego State has pulled off a first-round upset. The Aztecs were a No. 10 seed when they beat No. 7 DePaul last season.

Freshman center Cokie Reed scored 16 points for Texas (22-11).

Late Saturday

At Berkeley, Calif.

Baylor 69, Fresno State 55: Brittney Griner had 18 points and eight rebounds in her NCAA tournament debut, leading fourth-seeded Baylor over 13th seed Fresno State.

Griner had a low-key night in her second game back from a two-game suspension for punching an opponent. She blocked only two shots and had none of the dunks that made her an Internet sensation as a high schooler.

But she still controlled the game with her presence inside, helping Baylor (24-9) hold the Bulldogs to 34 percent shooting.

Hayley Munro and Emma Andrews each scored 13 points to lead Fresno State (27-7). The Bulldogs ended the season on a two-game losing streak after winning their first 19 games in 2010. Fresno State fell to 0-3 in the NCAA tournament.
