Play begins at 9:30 a.m. at Cary Academy. There is no admission charge.
Nine of North Carolina's top 10 in the class of 2011 according to Scout.com are expected to participate, including 6-foot-8 Quincy Miller of Winston-Salem Quality Education, 6-5 North Carolina commitment P.J. Hairston of Greensboro Dudley, 6-11 Marshall Plumlee of Asheville Christ School, 6-0 Marquis Rankin of Charlotte Vance and 6-4 Xavier commitment Dezmine Wells of Raleigh Word of God.
The class of 2012 is represented by players such as 6-9 N.C. State commitment Joseph Uchebo of Oak Ridge Military, 6-6 T.J. Warren of Durham Riverside, 5-11 Braxton Ogbueze of Charlotte Vance and 5-10 Tyler Lewis of Forsyth Country Day.
Thirteen current freshmen are among the 80-player field, including 6-2 Rodney Purvis and 6-7 Tyrek Cooper, both of Raleigh Upper Room.
Stapleton to Navy: Chloe Stapleton of Cardinal Gibbons, a four-time all-conference player, has committed to play basketball at the Naval Academy Prep School.
She finished her career with more than 1,200 points, becoming the eighth Crusaders girl to score more than 1,000 points. She plans to play basketball at the U.S. Naval Academy after prepping for one year. She averaged 16.3 points per game.
Girls lacrosse: Sisters Hillary and Caroline Margolis have helped lead Ravenscroft to a 4-2 start.
Hillary Margolis, a senior, has 26 goals and 20 assists. Caroline Margolis has 25 goals and 13 assists.
Wakefield's Emma Rosenthal continues to lead area girls lacrosse players with 38 goals in six games, but Broughton's Heather McDougal and Mary Bitler are close behind with 36 and 34.
Boys lacrosse: Andrew Mouro of Green Hope (7-0) has a big lead in area boys lacrosse scoring with 37 goals and 13 assists. He had four goals in an 8-7 win over Apex on Tuesday.
Girls soccer: Kaitlyn Eckert of Knightdale scored four goals in a 5-4 girls win over West Johnston on Monday. She has scored 26 goals, almost twice as many as teammate Brooke Foil, who is second in area scoring with 13 goals. The Knights are 6-1-1.
Leesville Road (7-0-1) leads the area in scoring defense, with seven shutouts. The Pride has given up only one goal this season. Leesville Road and Apex (3-2-1) tied 0-0.
Smithfield-Selma (6-1) leads in scoring offense, with 6.1 goals per game. The Spartans lost 6-1 to Knightdale.
Baseball: D.J. Thomas pushed his pitching record to 4-0 this season in Riverside's 2-0 win over Northern Durham on Tuesday. Thomas given up only two hits.
Junior Taylor Griswold of East Wake has hit four home runs this season for the 1-6 Warriors.
St. David's (5-0) is averaging 11.6 runs per game.
Smithfield-Selma (6-1) is yielding only 2.6 runs per game after topping Harnett Central 14-3 on Tuesday.
Softball: Millbrook sophomore Kayleigh Brueck is 7-0 as a pitcher and has six doubles and 13 RBI.
Garner's 6-0 start has been led by freshman Christina Gower, the winning pitcher in each game.
Apex is off to a 6-1 start behind the pitching of Natalie Klemann. She threw a one-hitter Tuesday night in a 12-0 win over Green Hope. Holly Springs nipped the Cougars 2-1 in a Tri-Nine 4-A game.
