Man identified in fatal Falls of Neuse crash

A man killed in a Tuesday evening crash that shut down Falls of Neuse Road for several hours was identified this morning by Raleigh police as Orlando Luis McKinnon, 21, of Raleigh.

McKinnon was a passenger in a 2003 Cadillac driven by Stephon McCall Palmer of Raleigh, police said. Palmer was seriously injured and taken to WakeMed Raleigh Campus.

According to police, Palmer's car was traveling south on Falls of Neuse at an estimated 100 miles per hour when he lost control and struck two other vehicles traveling north on Falls of Neuse.

The driver of one of the northbound vehicles and a passenger in the other one were hospitalized as well.

The accident occurred about 5:15 p.m. Tuesday in the 5500 block of Falls of Neuse Road at the intersection of Fairfax Drive.
