RTI International is expanding its health solutions business unit by opening an office in Sweden.
The 10-year-old unit offers research and consulting to biotech, pharmaceutical and medical device companies.
"Many of our multinational projects have a Scandinavian component to them," Birgitta von Scheele, head of the Sweden office, said in a statement.
The new office is in Lund, near several pharma and biotech companies.
RTI, which is based in Research Triangle Park, already has offices in the United Kingdom and Spain. It employs about 2,000 people in the Triangle and has about 4,000 employees worldwide. The health unit has more than 200 workers in the United States and Europe.
