Steven W. Equils of Spring Lake, died Monday, April 5, 2010 at his home. A native of Belhaven, NC, he was the son of the late Andrew and Ann Montague Equils. He was a State Capitol Police Officer in Raleigh and retired US Army First Sgt.

Funeral service 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 12, 2010 at O'Quinn-Peebles chapel with Rev. Ed Rogers officiating. Burial, Sandhills State VA Cemetery in Spring Lake.

Visitation 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home.

Surviving: wife, Susan Matthews Equils; daughter, Laura E. Elkin and husband, Shawn of Kansas; son, Steven M. Equils and wife, Sarah of Germany; brothers, Raymond Equils of New Jersey, David Equils of Arizona, Bruce Equils of Wendell; sisters, Virginia Workman of Knightdale, Faye Leggs of Lillington; mother-in-law, Dorothy Matthews of Bunnlevel.
