Recognizing the desperate plight of print media in today's Internet economy, one still must gasp at your blatant tabloid-style pandering in running a front page "news" piece on April 16 concerning the withdrawal of an unknown Louisiana senatorial candidate ("Citing cost of Senate run, porn star bows out of race"). In fact, the article focused on that candidate's appearance in a Raleigh strip joint.

As an attorney who has successfully defended one of this country's largest and most respected media outlets in both the First and Ninth Circuits while practicing in Boston over the last 10 years, I am just disgusted. Female candidates past and present should be horrified by your jocular frat-boy humor. The references to poles (hee hee hee - pole dancing conflated with women's concerns for their standing in political polls) are particularly degrading.

What a homecoming to North Carolina. Get real - this ain't news, fellows, and promoting the oldest sexist exploitation of women in the world as news is just pathetic.
