Eleanor Wessner passed away Saturday morning at Hospice Home, Raleigh, NC, at the age of 78.

Mrs. Wessner was the wife of the late Robert G. Wessner and the daughter of the late Frieda and Howard Schutt.

She is survived by her son, Robert P. (Ann) of Raleigh; daughter, Patricia A. of Amherst, NY; and son, Kenneth M.; and beloved grandchildren, Eric and Sarah of Raleigh. She is also survived by her sister, Margaret Jones (late Earl E.) and sisters-in-law, Dorothy (late George) Massman, Margaret (David) King and Carolyn Wessner, all of Western New York, and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Wessner, who graduated from Amherst Central High School in 1949, resided in East Amherst, NY, until the year 2000, when she moved to Raleigh to be near her family. She was a retired 25-year employee of the Williamsville Central School District, where she served as a clerical and health aide. She was a loving and caring lady, who enjoyed nature and life. She will be missed by her many friends and family.

The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. James Parsons and all the staff at Mayview Convalescent Center in Raleigh for their loving care, concern, and friendship for Mrs. Wessner during her time there. The family also thanks the dedicated staff and volunteers of Hospice of Wake County for their caring end of life care.

The family will be present on Thursday, May 6, 2010, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Brown-Wynn Funeral Home, 300 St. Mary's Street, Raleigh.

Funeral services will be held in her home town of East Amherst, New York. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wake County, 200 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607 or the charity of your choice.
