Members of the class of 2010 turn their tassels at the conclusion of the 138th Commencement Exercises at historic Peace College on Saturday May 8, 2010 in Raleigh, N.C.
The next two weekends will be busy in the Triangle as the local universities send their latest graduates into the world. The festivities began today at Shaw, Peace and St. Augustine's and continue through next weekend.
Sunday
UNC-Chapel Hill, 9:30 a.m., Kenan Stadium. Speaker: John Grisham, author of legal thrillers.
Meredith College, 10 a.m., McIver Amphitheater. Speaker: Gretchen Holt Witt, a Meredith alumna and pediatric cancer activist who founded Cookies for Kids' Cancer, an organization that uses local bake sales to raise money for cancer research.
Saturday, May 15
N.C. State University, 9 a.m., RBC Center. Speaker: Charlie Rose, TV journalist and PBS host.
N.C. Central University, 8 a.m., O'Kelly-Riddick Stadium. Speaker: Tom Joyner, nationally syndicated radio talk show host.
Sunday, May 16
Duke University, 10 a.m. Wallace Wade Stadium. Speaker: Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus, a Bangladeshi banker/economist and champion of the poor.
