ROLESVILLE -- Police charged an 18-year-old Rolesville man yesterday with helping two juvenile girls "sneak off" from their home in Greene County and raping them, court records show.
Investigators have charged Matthew Alexander Burgie of 305 Watkins Farm Road with felony kidnapping, statutory rape and first-degree rape, a Wake County jail spokeswoman reported today.
Rolesville police began their investigation of the case on May 15 when a detective with the Greene County Sheriff's Office called to report that she was at the Pitt Memorial Hospital with two girls, ages 12 and 13, court records show.
The girls told police that earlier that day, Burgie called her cell phone and left her text messages. Burgie, the girl told police, offered to drive to her home, to help her and her 12-year-old friend slip off from home to go hang out with him, court records show.
Police say Burgie left his home and drove to the 13-year-old's home in Farmville. Once he arrived, police say Burgie sent the girl a text message that told her he was outside waiting.
Police have accused Burgie of going to the child's bedroom window, where he removed the screen and helped the two girls climb outside, court records show.
The girls got into Burgie's car and he drove them to his home where he had sex with both of them in a basement gameroom on a pullout couch, police reported.
Then he drove them back to Farmville and dropped them off a gas station, court records show.
Police took Burgie into custody later that evening and obtained two search warrants to search his home and to gather a DNA profile from him by swabbing his cheeks, court records show.
Investigators also searched his home and seized a pair of American Eagle blue jeans, a blue blanket, comforter and fitted sheet. Police also took a pair of metal earrings, a digital camera and cell phone from the home, court records show.
Burgie remains in custody at the Wake County jail under a $900,000 bail, court records show.
