The thousands of students graduating from Triangle high schools this week have lived through some unsettling years.
The United States has been at war since they were in middle school. The economy fell apart when they were sophomores. Some lost relatives in the war. Others have seen parents and friends lose jobs and homes. They leave high school facing one of the worst job markets and some of the most uncertain times in decades.
The News & Observer interviewed a handful of graduating seniors to see what they're taking away from their high school years and what their hopes are.
