APEX -- Local, state and federal authorities have formed a task force to capture an arsonist suspected of deliberately setting a string of fires that have destroyed five homes since last year, town officials announced this morning.
Apex police Department have been investigating the fires that they think started in August 2009.
A police press release this morning stated that the fires "which all appear to have been set by human hands," have occurred at:
· 1820 Grande Maison Drive – August 7, 2009
· Beaver Creek Commons Drive – October 18, 2009
· 1813 Grand Maison Drive – February 13, 2010
· St. Emilion Court – June 6, 2010
· Bexley Hills – June 6, 2010
The task force that is now assisting with the investigation includes the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the N. C. State Bureau of Investigation, the Wake County Fire Marshall’s Office, the Apex Fire Department and the Apex Police Department.
Apex police have also set up two ways of providing information regarding the person or persons responsible for these fires.

A reward of not less than $25,000 will be paid for information which results in the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for these fires.
